We know this is one big question and there is no easy answer to this. As educators and as the best B.Ed College in Kolkata, we have been dealing with students of many age and diverse backgrounds. Through these years, we have gathered experiences and have come to know some pointers about how you can ace the game of imparting education and what you should follow to be considered a good teacher.
If you aspire to be a teacher, make sure you have some key qualities imbibed in you while dealing with students. You must always be honest, patient, affectionate, confident and flexible. You should also be open to accepting individuality as when you become a teacher, you will come across students who would be unique. Being inclusive and accepting the student is very important.
When in the classroom, make sure you organize the classroom to maximize learning and productive activities and minimize the time you lose due to disruptions or challenging behaviour.
Encourage autonomy in students and involve your students in the learning process. Teach them self-management and self-control.
Ensure that you make an effort to appreciate, understand and build your students’ strengths and address their concerns and weaknesses. Encourage them to achieve more and never discourage them from trying something new.
Make sure you foster meaningful and effective change by focussing on variables such as curriculum selection, instructional strategies and your interpersonal relationship with students.
Educate your students about human behaviour and development and you also consider the vast differences in development that exist in abilities and learning rates of students.
Make your classroom a safe and secure place for your students where each of your students feels important and valued.
Teachers have a lifelong effect in the lives of the students they come across. As the best B.Ed College in Kolkata, we believe in grooming our aspiring teachers with these values so that they can confidently take the responsibility of shaping the nation’s future generations with their teachings.
